I bought these pruning shears to prune a majesty palm and they worked great. The branches snapped off easily. So, I also used them to prune branches from a limb that fell from a much bigger tree in my yard. I cut branches probably up to 1/2 inch diameter without a problem and 3/4 inch with just a little more effort. I did do a little research before purchasing shears for pruning. I gleaned that these type of pruning shears are best for dead branches. And, the instructions say use on dead branches. Yes, they will probably work on live branches too, but based on my research a different type of shears (bypass shears) are better for live branches. These pruning shears are comfortable to hold and straightforward easy to use. They are perfect for dead branches up to 3/4 inch circumference based on my experience. Money well spent.
